An epic new play, in development, premiering 2026-27

MONEY is a new Canadian play in 3 Acts, spanning 3 generations of stories, with a cast of 8 of our country’s top theatre stars, including writer/director/performer Rick Miller.

MONEY aims to move the needle on one of the most important conversations of our time: how do we preserve democracy, and live together more equitably, peacefully, and sustainably? A big question that stirs up big emotions, which is why we need storytellers to get to the heart of it.

HANS: My Life in Fairy Tales

(premiering in 2025)

Wondrous and hilarious, HANS conjures the life and stories of Hans Christian Andersen, from his poor childhood as an “Ugly Duckling”, to fame across Europe. Beloved tales like “The Little Mermaid”, "Princess and the Pea", and “Little Match Girl” come to life as you’ve never seen them before: through puppetry, live video, clown, slapstick comedy, opera, and an original accordion soundtrack!

The Music, Culture, and Events of Millennials & Generation Z

BOOM YZ stirringly brings to life the years 1996-2020, and shifts our perspective to “Generation Y” (Millennials) and “Generation Z”. Miller takes on a variety of voices, including his own daughter’s, to reflect the aspirations and anxieties of young people today, and to bring the multi-generational story to a compelling close.

FRANKENSTEIN: A Living Comic Book

(premiered in 2022)

This electrifying new stage production blends immersive comic book design and playful theatrical techniques to reanimate the sci-fi classic for a new generation. This new family-friendly spin on the literary classic, Frankenstein confronts modern issues of climate change, artificial intelligence, and our relationship to technology… monsters of our own making! When a young graphic novelist named Mary discovers the journal of Dr. Victor Frankenstein, she’s drawn into his uncanny story of secret experiments to conquer death. She discovers that we all need to face our own fears… before they face us!

Part 2 of the BOOM Trilogy (1970-1995)
The Music, Culture, and Events of Generation X

BOOM X picks up where BOOM left off, at Woodstock in August of ‘69, and takes us all the way to 1995, when the internet began to dominate our lives. Over the course of 100 minutes, Miller plays over 100 colourful characters from the days of disco, the oil crisis, Watergate, the Cold War, video games, punk rock, the (second) British Invasion, and more.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea is the stage adaptation of the classic Jules Verne Sci-Fi adventure, exploring the power of nature and the nature of power. Plunge into a multisensory experience with unforgettable characters, eye-popping projections and interactive audience technology. This family-friendly show encourages us to connect for the future. After a world premiere at the 2015 PanAm Games, the show was a hit Off-Broadway at The New Victory Theater on 42nd Street in NYC.

MacHomer

(1995-2012)

Rick Miller's international hit show MacHomer is a one-man vocal spectacular featuring impressions of over 50 voices from TV’s The Simpsons in a hilarious performance of Shakespeare’s Macbeth! With a script that remains 85% Shakespeare, MacHomer will leave you "exhausted with laughter" (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). In its 17 years of touring, Miller played MacHomer to capacity crowds and rave reviews in over 175 cities around the world, including almost every state in America. Its final run was a month-long presentation to open the Stratford’s Festival’s 60th anniversary season.

Shows with Ex Machina

From 1998-2012, Rick Miller collaborated with his mentor, friend and colleague Robert Lepage, one of the world’s most renowned theatre creators. In partnership with Lepage’s company Ex Machina, Rick worked on groundbreaking stage productions such as Geometry of Miracles, Zulu Time and Lipsynch, and co-starred in Lepage’s first English feature film, Possible Worlds. Their friendship continues to this day, and Lepage continues to inspire Miller to push the boundaries of what is possible in theatre.
