Toronto loves LIPSYNCH!
The must-see theatre event of the year!"
After performances in the UK, France, Spain and Australia, Robert
Lepage's LIPSYNCH finally received its North American premiere at
Toronto's Luminato Festival, running from June 6-14, 2009. For full
Toronto reviews, read on...
Co-created with Rick Miller and 8 other actors from 5 countries, LIPSYNCH is a monumental 9-hour production themed around the human voice: its capability and limitations, its layers of meaning, and the secrets and lies it conceals. Audiences and critics in Toronto were equally enthralled, calling LIPSYNCH "a world of wonders" (Toronto Sun), "absolutely mind-blowing" (EYE Weekly) and a "once-in-a-lifetime experience!" (Toronto Star)
"Hysterically funny!... it's a completely immersive experience, featuring the kind of brilliant theatricality we’ve come to expect of Lepage and his Ex Machina company for decades" (NOW Magazine)
"The
cast members, each having to act and sing in at least three languages
are simply amazing, though Rick Miller really stands out for submerging
himself so fully into his multiple roles"(EYE Weekly)
Next stops: Moscow in July (Chekhov Int'l Festival) and New York in October (BAM Next Wave Festival)
